- Summer Life in Whitley County
COLUMBIA CITY — Tucked away in the northeast corner of the state, Whitley County residents may wonder if state lawmakers remember that rural areas need representation.
Indiana Representatives Kathy Heuer and David Ober joined Indiana Senator Jim Banks at a breakfast Saturday held at the Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds.
Structured to give residents a chance to discuss concerns with their elected officials, the event allowed attendees to ask questions pertaining to agriculture legislation.
One common concern was the power of Whitley County’s voice at the state and national level.
“I think this county has a strong voice,” said Ind. Rep. Heuer. “With U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman’s representation and his farming background, I think we have the right person speaking on our behalf at that level.”
Heuer reiterated her support for the local farmer and offered several ag-based bills as an example.
