COLUMBIA CITY â€” The 2014 budget for Whitley County Consolidated Schools is under review by the Board of Trustees.
WCCS Business Manager Tony Zickgraf released the proposal to the school board at Mondayâ€™s meeting.
â€śWe encourage each of you to meet with the superintendent and myself with any questions you have about the budget,â€ť Zickgraf said.
Zickgraf and his staff put several months into the budget project, which will be open to public discussion at the Sept. 3 board meeting.
â€śAnyone can make comments on the budget,â€ť Zickgraf said. September 16 is the projected date the proposal will be adopted by the Board of Trustees.

Zickgraf explained that the General Fund category of the budget mostly pays for staff â€” $.86 of every dollar in the fund goes toward employees and benefits. The General Fund budget is $23,854,659, an increase of $321,000 from 2013.
â€śThere were no pay raises given to employees except step or increment increases,â€ť Zickgraf said. â€śI havenâ€™t factored in any new people either â€” we canâ€™t afford it.â€ť
