PRESSLER CASE: Paternity test requested

February 8, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County’s Prosecutor’s Office has issued a warrant for a DNA test in a sexual abuse case.

Dean Pressler was arrested in late December on multiple counts of sexual assault to a minor.

Case reports indicate the alleged victim had two children during the period of the alleged crimes. She stated Pressler was the father of both children, which include a child born in April of 2012 and June of 2010.

Pressler already gave a DNA sample for the younger child. He then asked that sample not be used to determine paternity of the older child.

Whitley County Circuit Court Judge James Heuer then issued an order requiring the test to be taken.

Pre-trial proceedings for the case will resume Feb. 11. Pressler will have as councsel Al Anzini.

Temple Franklin was also in Circuit Court Monday and was sentenced for multiple crimes.

Franklin pleaded guilty to seven counts of forgery, a Class C felony. She had been part of a ring of individuals using other people’s checks. She was sentenced by Heuer to eight years at the Indiana Department of Corrections.
