Tuesday’s snowfall not only reeked havoc on the roads but made for a log jam of games on the back half of this week’s sports schedule.
After games were canceled Tuesday, the North East Corner Conference Tournament is off to a late start with the first round coming tonight.
Churubusco girls and boys basketball teams will travel to Prairie Heights for a doubleheader starting with the Lady Eagles at 6 p.m.
According to Churubusco athletic director Lee Etzler, it’s still unclear whether consolation games scheduled for Thursday will take place with the second round pushed back.
Currently, the semifinal round is schedule for Friday with the championship game coming Saturday night at Lakeland High School.
The tournament brackets follow the girls winner of each match-up. The winner of the boys game tonight at Prairie Heights will either play at Prairie Heights or Churubusco.
A non-conference trip to Wawasee for Columbia City girls’ basketball team will try to meet again Thursday with a regular 6:15 p.m. junior varsity start.
Friday night, both Columbia City and Whitko boys’ basketball play in crucial conference games with the Wildcats at home against Southwood and the Eagles on the road to Homestead.
Thursday and Saturday belong to the girls squads. Whitko first hosts Norwell then follows up by heading to Rochester Saturday.
After their game at Wawasee Thursday, the Lady Eagles will host Homestead in their annual ‘Pink Night.’
