COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City senior football captain Sam Dailey remained in critical condition throughout the weekend after a head injury Friday night.

Dailey was hurt while trying to make a tackle against Warsaw in the season-opening football game.

“He made an outstanding play on a run off-tackle,” Columbia City Randy Hudgins told an area newspaper. “We watched it on film and it didn’t look like anything out of the ordinary, but it must have hit him just the right way.”

After speaking with area news sources, Hudgins was gag-ordered by Whitley County Consolidated School officials to not provide further comment.

Superintendent Pat O’Connor said WCCS does not wish to comment on the injury.
