COLUMBIA CITY — Megan Jagger, an 8th-grade student at Indian Springs Middle School, won several regional honors in the Scholastic Art Awards competition for her photographs.
However, in a ceremony held at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Jagger was awarded a National Silver Medal for a photograph of an old tractor entitled, “Antiquity on the Farm.”
Mary Hilger is Jagger’s art teacher at ISMS and was elated to see one of her students receive the artistic honor.
“Megan received numerous regional Gold Keys (awards),” said Hilger. “Then I was informed that she was also being recognized as a national winner. What an awesome honor for such a deserving student.”
Hilger wanted to attend the ceremony to be present for Jagger’s award, but a surgery kept Hilger in recovery instead of at the event.
“Even though I could not attend, I encouraged Megan and her family to be there,” said Hilger.
