PIERCETON — Numerous negative comments encircled Indiana’s ISTEP+ testing process when computer malfunctions upset the online assessment.
However, at Pierceton Elementary School, faculty and students celebrated some good news that came from the standardized test.
Ryan Brown, now a fourth grader at PES, achieved a perfect score on the test in the spring.
At Monday’s school board meeting, much applause was given to the boy for his academic success.
“This is the first time in my 30 years of teaching, that I’ve seen a perfect score in both the math and language arts portions,” said Steve Clason, Whitko Community School Corporation superintendent. “We couldn’t be more proud of Ryan.”
Nathan Polston, the principal at PES was equally impressed with Brown’s scores.
