Northeast Hoosier Conference reconsiders member schools

April 12, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s athletic conference, the Northeast Hoosier Conference, is discussing changes to its member schools.

With the gap of school enrollment continuing to grow, Columbia City High School said Thursday in a press release that conversations have occurred throughout the school year concerning member schools.

“As a result of these discussions, principals and athletic directors will be considering future conference membership affiliations,” the release stated.

Rumors have revolved around the removal of Carroll and Homestead from the NHC, as the Fort Wayne schools have become much bigger than the rest of the member schools.

The rumors were fueled when a meeting was held earlier this school year with six NHC schools, along with Leo and Angola, two non-conference schools.

Homestead and Carroll were not invited.
