Norman Lee Campbell, 85, of La Porte passed away Saturday Oct. 27, 2012, at his home.
He was born on July 16, 1927, in Jay County, to Irvin and Lilly (Hiestand) Campbell.
He married Eloise E. Keirn, his bride of 63 years on June 29, 1949, in Fort Wayne; she survives.
Norman graduated from Bryant High School in Bryant, and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a golden-glove boxer in the Navy.
Norman was a self-employed general contractor for more than 60 years.
He loved to fish and hunt. He was also an Arizona Diamondback and Denver Broncos fan.
He and his wife moved to La Porte in 2010 after living in Youngtown, Ariz. for 31 years.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three children, Robert (Kris) Campbell of Buena Vista, Colo., Charles (Ruth) Campbell of La Porte and Gary (April) Campbell of Glendale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Shari Lee Campbell, Brandon Lee (Krista) Campbell, Brock Campbell, Ashley Campbell, Michelle Campbell, Kate Dolan and JD Crumpton; one great-grandson and six siblings, Mildred Brubaker, Bea Wolfe, Harley Campbell, Jean Parish, Joann Stein and Kay Gardner
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Orla Campbell, Robert Campbell, Harold Campbell and Margorie Crowell.
A celebration of life service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center Friday at 7 p.m. with Pastor Roger Ash officiating. Family and friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service Friday.
