CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s football team is now ranked fourth in the Associated Press poll for Class 2A, and the 5-0 Eagles will once again welcome a larger school to their home field Friday.
One week after topping Class 4A Angola 14-7, ’Busco will host West Noble Friday in a game set to kick off at 7 p.m.
The Chargers were shut out last week, 33-0, by Lakeland, which is the only other unbeaten squad in the Northeast Corner Conference besides Churubusco.
Last year, the Eagles beat West Noble 60-0. The most recent win for the Chargers in the history of the rivalry was a 32-14 triumph in 2005.
Coming into Friday’s game, Churubusco Head Football Coach Paul Sade is not taking West Noble lightly.
“They are always a very tough team,” he said. “They’re always big, and they’ll get after it on defense, and they like to pound the football on offense.”
