Nettie Ullstrom, 90

Nettie Ellen Ullstrom, 90, of Fort Wayne, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at the home of her son, Jimmie, where she had been residing since April.
She was born July 5, 1922, in Myland Center, a daughter of Frank C. and Caroline (Federspiel) Chester. Her formative years were spent in Allen County.
In 1961, she was united in marriage to Leslie V. Ullstrom. They always made their home in Allen County. Mr. Ullstrom died in 1990. In 2001, Nettie moved to Deland, Fla. for eight months, then returning to Fort Wayne.
She was a cook at various restaurants and was last employed at Cintas.
Surviving relatives include four children, Jerry Lee Babcock of Waynedale, Jimmie J. (Marcia) Babcock of Columbia City, Judith Ann Meredith of New Haven and Richard Leroy (Janice) Babcock of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and a sister, Irene Kitzmiller of Waynedale.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter; five brothers, Albert Chester, Ervin Chester, Donald Chester, Charles Chester and Morris Chester and three sisters, Bernice Niedert, Wilma Schaper and Violet Mann.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. The visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
