MORE CITY CONTROL: Trust Local campaign continues

February 21, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Who should be in charge?

That is the question asked by the Indiana Conference of Mayors (ICOM). ICOM has begun a campaign known as Trust Local.

The message has been spread at the Indiana Statehouse this year, with the principle being that control should be in the hands of city and local government as much as possible, rather than with the state or federal government.

“Sometimes the state broad brushes an issue,” said Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel.

Columbia City’s mayor added the state will see a problem or concern in a particular city and will then introduce legislation that applies to every community in the state.
