Millie F. Wood, 86, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born Nov. 23, 1926, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Joe Z. and Gladys E. (Robinson) Reese.
She graduated from Coesse High School with the Class of 1944. On Feb. 16, 1944, she married Paul H. Wood in Columbia City.
She worked at ITT in Fort Wayne for more than 30 years, retiring in 1982. Her and her husband enjoyed mushroom hunting, camping and attending the Centerville Fair in Michigan. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Gladdie (Gene) Barnett and Kathy (Jack) Abner both of Columbia City; daughter-in-law, Lori (Brad) Benson of Fishers; brother, J. Wayne (Kathaleen) Reese of Larwill; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; parents; son, Rick Wood; infant daughter, Linda Lou Wood; sister, Lucille Secrist; and brother, Chuck Faulstick.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 2 to 7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Eel River (Coesse) Presbyterian Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Woodâ€™s memory to Ft. Wayne Rescue Mission or Whitley County 4-H.
