Marylin A. King, 73, of Columbia City, died at 3:46 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital where she was admitted Saturday.
She was born October 24, 1939 in Kosciusko County a daughter of A. Ralph and Opal (Wolfe) King. Her formative years were spent in the Larwill area. She graduated from Larwill High School in 1957. She attended Indiana University, Bloomington.
She began her working career with General Electric, Fort Wayne. Moving to Colorado, she became a journeyman carpenter. She then joined Conoco, Denver, becoming a number one chemist, retiring in 1999.
She attended Community Bible Church, Columbia City, was a member of the National Rifle Association and loved to hunt, fish and hike, especially in Colorado.
Surviving relatives include her siblings, Lester (Deb) King of Columbia City, Leta (Russell) Erne of Pierceton and David King of Larwill; nephews, Jeff (DeAnna) King of Columbia City and Brian (Kim) Erne of Warsaw; nieces, Sandra (Michael) Petersen of Columbia City, Deborah (Charles Dull) King of Fort Wayne, Amy (Chris) Larue of Larwill, Cindy (Dan) Jedrzejak of Indianapolis, Tabitha (Jamie) Corn of Leesburg, and Heather and Amanda King, both of Columbia City.
A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Pastor John Cummings officiating. The family will receive friends and family Wednesday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Community Bible Church or donorâ€™s choice.
