Martha Reid, 76

Martha J. Reid, 76, of Columbia City, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Friday.
She was born Dec. 27, 1935, in Wolf Lake, a daughter of Thomas H. and Helen E. (Cole) Carter. Her lifetime was spent in Whitley County and Pierceton, for 16 years, where she completed her education.
On July 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Reid. In 1959, they moved to their home on Loon Lake. Mr. Reid died July 19, 1994. Since August 1995, Martha has made her home in Columbia City.
She was employed for more than 10 years at Chamberlin Products, South Whitley.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Lisa (George) Lee, Linda (Toby) Green and Lana Reid, all of Columbia City; six grandchildren, Patricia Lee, George Lee II, Paul Walters, Zack Walters, Heather Reid and Carly Reid; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Jan (Linda) Carter of Columbia City; two sisters, Peggy (Keith) Layman, of Hartford City and Judy (Carl) Mowry, of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Rosalie Carter of Warsaw and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laura and a brother, Harry Carter.
A private family visitation and service will be held at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Larwill.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice Home.
