Margaret Mosher, 86

Margaret Mae Mosher, 86, of Columbia City, died at 5:50 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City where she had been a resident since Tuesday.

She was born June 15, 1924 in South Whitley, a daughter of Charles and Pearl (Fiegley) Bates. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley. She graduated from South Whitley High School in 1942 and continued her education at Warner Beauty College in Fort Wayne.

In July 1944 she married Ralph Webber. They made their home in Kosciusko and Whitley counties, moving to Barbee Lake in 1978. Mr. Webber died in May 1980.

In June 1986 she married Cletus Mosher. They always made their home on Barbee Lake. Mr. Mosher died in January 1994. In the mid 1990s she moved to Columbia City.

She owned and operated three beauty salons in Warsaw, Auburn and Columbia City.

Her memberships included Columbia City V.F.W. Post 5582 Auxiliary.

Surviving relatives include a stepson, Robert Mosher of Calumet City, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two stepsons, Donald Mosher and Max Mosher; five brothers, Franklin Bates, Cyril Bates, Kenneth Bates, Joseph Bates and John Bates; and three sisters, Lezeth Bennett, June Hughes and Martha Shearer.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery. The visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
