Man sentenced to 3 years in body case

COLUMBIA CITY — A man who was part of a case involving a dead body in Whitley County was given a three-year sentence to the Indiana Department of Correction (DOC).

Nickolas A. Hurt, 24, of Woodburn, will serve 2.5 years of the three-year sentence behind bars, with the balance on probation, for altering the scene of a death, a Class D felony.

A charge of failure to report a dead body was dismissed by the state.
