COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Water Department took the next step in improving water quality to the Eagle Glen area.
At Tuesday’s Board of Works meeting, the board made a bid selection for the Eagle Glen water main loop project, a proposal that is expected to improve water pressure and consistency to the area north of U.S. 30 on Ind. 205.
During the past few years, the area has had issues with its water service, as an old main that services the area has broken several times.
Water Superintendent Mike Dear said his department has struggled with the main because it is old, and the ground is very acidic, causing the pipe to erode.
Because of that, the Eagle Glen area has dealt with periods of no water, and occasional low water pressure.
The loop project add another water main under U.S. 30 to service the area, providing more pressure and a back-up service.
