COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County Consolidated Schools is working toward a long-term plan for the buildings in the district.
The schools’ business manager Tony Zickgraf told the Board of Trustees at Monday’s meeting that WCCS is seeking bids from consulting firms, architects and construction managers to establish facility plans for all schools in the district.
The building analysis was one of several goals the board laid out for 2013.
Zickgraf said it has been in discussions for several years, and the project is expected to be completed in April 2014.
Zickgraf described two reasons for the analysis — having the ability to prepare the budget for large expenses such as a new roof, windows, etc., and to obtain all financial information before there are more discussions of a new high school.
“The public is concerned about building a new high school and then having to borrow more money for things for other buildings down the road,” WCCS board member Deb Hiss said.
