Churubusco netters earn win at Fremont

FREMONT — Churubusco’s volleyball team picked up a road win in the Northeast Corner Conference Thursday.

’Busco swept Fremont by scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-7.

Alisha Farner led Churubusco in kills with 10 and aces with four. Danielle Pippenger paced the team in blocks with two and digs with 13. Setter Lacey Pulley was the assist leader with 19.

Churubusco next plays Tuesday at Prairie Heights.

Manchester beats Whitko

NORTH MANCHESTER — Manchester’s boys tennis team swept Whitko Thursday.

Whitko’s Tyler Baugher lost in No. 1 singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-4. Blake Castle fell in No. 2 singles for the Wildcats 6-1, 6-2. In No. 3 singles, Whitko’s Reed Brace lost 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles action for the Wildcats, Cole Bechtold and Bailey Platt lost in the No. 1 doubles slot 6-2, 6-2 and Nic Rose and Alex Bechtold dropped the No. 2 doubles match, 6-0, 6-1.

Whitko next plays at the Three Rivers Conference Tournament Saturday, which is in South Whitley at 9 a.m.

Lady Wildcats fall in triangular

SYRACUSE — Whitko’s girls golf team came in third against West Noble and Wawasee Wednesday.

The Lady Wildcats shot 216. Wawasee won by shooting 191, and West Noble had 211.

April Bishop led Whitko with a score of 51, which was eight behind Wawasee’s Mikala Mawhorter, who was meed medalist with a 43.

Claire Reiff had 52, Elizabeth Gensch 53 and Kennedy Krull 60 for the Lady Wildcats. Samantha Shell rounded out the Whitko scoring with a 70.

Whitko next plays Saturday at North Manchester.
