Light the Way to bring hope to Whitley County

April 14, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — An annual event will combine remembering those lost with steps to prevent abuse.

Light The Way is an evening planed for Monday, April 28 at 6 p.m. at First Church of God in Columbia City. Whitley County’s Salvation Army organizers sponsor the event, describing it as an evening of awareness and hope.

“Abuse and domestic violence is a real concern in our area,” said Major Flora O’Dell, the Salvation Army leader for the county. “Statistics show that a child exposed to abuse is more likely to continue that abuse when they are adults. We can stop the cycle by making others aware of the signs and educating them on what to do.”
