Lee Kilgore, 97

L. M. “Lee” Kilgore, 97, of Columbia City, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since August.
She was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of William H. and Mary Ellen (Doolittle) Radke. Her formative years were spent in Fort Wayne where she attended school.
On Sept. 25, 1947, she and Woodward “Woody” Kilgore eloped to Indianapolis. They did not reveal their marriage until they found a place to live several weeks later. Mr. Kilgore died Nov. 16, 1975.
Lee moved to Columbia City in 1946 and operated her own interior decorating service for a number of years.
She was a member of Community Bible Church.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kay (James) Campbell of Winter Haven, Fla.; a grandson, Jason Campbell; two great- granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Eugene “Gene” Radke, Leonard Radke and Evelyn Byerly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell. There will be no visitation.
Preferred memorials are to Community Bible Church. Arrangements are by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
