Lavida P. Kethcart, 94 of Huntington passed away at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at Norwood’s Health and Rehabilitation Center. She had worked at Square D Corporation as a coil winder. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; she was a very caring and giving person.
She was born June 12, 1916 in Whitley County, a daughter of Herbert and Mary (Stallsmith) Clapp.
She was united in marriage to Laurence A. Kethcart June 7, 1936 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death March 1, 2000.
Survivors include three sons: John R. (Gyneth) Kethcart of Old Town, Fla.; Robert W. (Teresa) Kethcart of Columbia City; Thomas E. Kethcart of Warren; two daughters, Janice A. (Herm) Smith of Huntington and Jane (Larry) Cramer of Columbia City; 12 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Weldon and Charles Clapp; two grandsons, Steven Kethcart and Michael Kethcart; and a great-grandson, Dustin Cramer.
There will be no visitation hours.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington with Dr. Richard Lofgren officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date.
