Laurel Eugene Taylor, age 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 8:36 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born March 2, 1928, in Whitley County, he was the son of Glenn Jewel and Grace Evelyn (Traster) Taylor.
He lived in Whitley and Allen Counties all of his adult lifetime.
He graduated from Jefferson Center High School with the Class of 1945.
He served in the United States Army from 1950-52.
On Sept. 26, 1953, he married Donnabelle â€śJonnieâ€ť Wagner.
He worked for 29 years at Joslyn Steel, Fort Wayne, and retired from PTG, Columbia City.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed watching the TV game shows, Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right in addition to working word puzzles, playing cards, pool and ping pong.
Surviving relatives include his sons, Gregory E. (Cynthia) Taylor of Pierceton and Vance A. (Rhonda Ferry) Taylor of Orlando, Fla. and brother, Leonard D. (Pearl) Taylor of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donnabelle â€śJohnnieâ€ť Taylor, son, Bradley D. Taylor, brother, Gerald Taylor, and sister, Marilyn E. Burke.
A memorial service will be held at noon with one hour of calling prior to service Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus will officiate.
The burial will be at a later date at Jefferson Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Taylorâ€™s memory to the donorâ€™s choice of charity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
