Larry Robert Bills, 76, of Columbia City, died at home at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012. Born on April 21, 1936, in Whitley County, he was the son of Charles Alfred and Thelma Odetta (Campbell) Bills.
A lifelong Whitley County resident, he attended Troy Center Grade School and Larwill High School.
He married Carolyn A. Miller in Fort Wayne on Jan. 21, 1961. She died in 2008.
He was employed by Buchanan Ford, Columbia City; BF Goodrich, Woodburn; CW Transport, Fort Wayne; Fort Wayne Foundry and Bart’s Car Store, both of Columbia City. He was a member of the Blue River Community Church and the Teamster’s Local 414.
Survivors include his four daughters, Teresa R. Smith, of South Whitley, Shelly L. Bills, of Columbia City, Carla S. (Mike) McIntosh of Whitestown and Tiffany L. (Joseph) Kinch of Claypool; one son, Todd R. Bills, of Columbia City; three brothers, Gerald E. (Jeanette) Bills, Paul (Betty) Bills and Leslie N. (Pat) Bills, all of Columbia City; a sister, Neva Harris, Larwill; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carolyn A. Bills, sister, Marjorie Geiger and granddaughter, Kelly Jo Bills.
Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Kent Green officiating. Burial will follow at Blue River Community Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Bills to the Bills Family Memorial Fund, Parkview Whitley Home Health and Hospice or the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
