Lady Wildcats drop slugfest to Tippy

MENTONE — Whitko’s softball team lost a shootout to TRC-rival Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats fell to the Lady Vikings by a score of 15-14.

It was the first conference game of the year for the Lady Wildcats.

Whitko soared at the plate, crushing 20 hits in the contest. Tiffany Ousley was 3-for-5, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning that broke a 10-10 tie.

Christa Baughman was 2-of-5 with a double and five RBIs.

Hannah Himes was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored.

Whitko led 8-2 after the top of the fourth, but Tippy cut the lead to 8-7 after the bottom frame of the fourth inning.

Three more runs to just one for the Lady Wildcats meant Whitko entered the top of the sixth down 10-9.

Four runs came through that inning, including the home run from Ousley.
Valley responded with one run in the bottom of the sixth.

A seventh inning Whitko run gave the Lady Wildcats a 14-11 advantage, but the host Lady Vikings managed four in the bottom of the seventh to take the victory.

The game against Valley puts Whitko at 2-11 on the season. The Lady ’Cats faced Manchester Wednesday.
