Lady Tigers down Whitko 64-42 Friday night

November 29, 2013

WARSAW — A tough defensive effort from Warsaw proved too much for Whitko’s girls basketball team Friday.

The Lady Wildcats dropped a road contest to the Lady Tigers by a final of 64-42.

The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the 3-2 Lady Wildcats and was the first win of the year for 1-3 Warsaw.

Warsaw’s press wore down Whitko as the game advanced, holding the Lady Wildcats to just 14 second-half points and six in the fourth quarter.

“Offensively against their press, it’s the same thing they’ve run all three years I’ve been here,” said Whitko Girls Basketball Head Coach Brandon Bradley. “But two years ago we struggled with their press and we tried to dribble through it. Last year, we did well against it because we looked at specific passes we had coached on. This year, we reverted back to two years ago.”

Whitko had to play from behind early. A trio of 3-point shots at the outset put the Lady Wildcats behind 9-0. Whitko fought back to cut the game to 13-10 after one quarter.
