Lady Eagles win Luers Invite

FORT WAYNE — Columbia City’s girls track team continued its winning ways, taking top honors at the Bishop Luers Invitational Saturday in Fort Wayne.

The Lady Eagles won a close meet over Northeast Hoosier Conference foe Norwell, which placed second.

Columbia City is now 11-0 on the season.

Columbia City scored 80.33 points, while the Lady Knights were close behind with 75.66.

Leo came in third, followed by New Haven, Wayne, Bishop Dwenger, Canterbury, Prairie Heights and Bishop Luers.

Megan Deutsch was named MVP for the meet, as she placed first in the pole vault, and had a strong showing in several relay events.

Deutsch was on the winning 1,600-meter relay team with Regan Decker, Hannah Wappes and Carlee Hearld.
