Lady Eagles take 3rd in tourney

December 30, 2013

MIDDLEBURY — Columbia City’s girls basketball team returned from its worst loss of the season Friday to Northridge to pick up two wins Saturday.

The Lady Eagles came out third in the Northridge Invitational Saturday, after an overtime, revenge win over East Noble and a victory over Andrean in the morning game.

One week prior, East Noble beat Columbia City by five points. The Lady Eagles sought and found revenge in the tourney, topping the Lady Knights 64-61 in overtime to win the third-place game at Northridge.

Alyssa Hansen shot 9-for-10 from the charity stripe to loft the Lady Eagles to the win, earning a place on the all-tourney team.

Against East Noble, Emily Whiteleather opened the first quarter with six of Columbia City’s 14 points, along with Aubrey Wright’s five.
