Lady Eagles go 2-2 at NECC Tournament

TOPEKA— Churubusco’s volleyball team posted a 2-2 record at the Northeast Corner Conference Tournament Saturday.

’Busco opened pool play against Angola and fell in three sets, 20-25, 25-15 and 15-13.

In the second match-up against Fairfield, the Lady Eagles lost in two sets, 25-12 and 25-15.

“Scores did not show it, but we competed hard,” said Churubusco Head Volleyball Coach Trinda Goings. “We played with defensive heart and intensity.”

Churubusco finished with two wins. The Lady Eagles swept West Noble, 25-17 and 25-22, and dispatched Fremont in two, 25-11 and 25-21.

Alisha Farner led the Lady Eagles in aces on the day with nine. She also set a new school record for the most aces in a single season. Farner now has 89, and the previous record was 80. She set the new record in the match against Fairfield.
