COLUMBIA CITY — Its coach said it wasn’t the most effective performance, but the Columbia City Lady Eagle volleyball team came away Thursday with a Northeast Hoosier Conference win against New Haven.

The Lady Eagles beat the Lady Bulldogs 25-21, 25-16 and 25-21 for the three-game sweep.

According to Columbia City Head Volleyball Coach Trish Hinen, her team had a marathon week, which contributed to Thursday’s performance.

“We have had seven matches in six days,” she said. “So, it wasn’t pretty. We didn’t play our best, but it’s a conference win.”

With the NHC victory, the Lady Eagles are now 2-1 in the league. Overall, Columbia City has a 16-3 record.

New Haven mixed its offense up in several ways, and this allowed the Lady Bulldogs to keep Columbia City guessing.
