February 19, 2013

CROWN POINT — Some Whitley County natives are preparing for the girls basketball semi-state game at Crown Point Saturday.

Wayne Kreiger, long time Columbia City girls head coach, and Darby Maggard, former Whitko Middle School hoopster, are looking to take Canterbury’s Lady Cavaliers to its fifth state title in the last six years.

Canterbury is currently 23-3 and faces 17-9 Lafayette Central Catholic. The Lady Cavs are slated to play at 1 p.m. at the Lake County school.

Also competing in semi-state play are Warsaw’s girls, who are playing host to Fort Wayne South Side.

Warsaw is 24-1 and the Lady Archers are 23-3.
