Kay L. Kyler, 68, of North Webster Lake, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at her home following an extended battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 9, 1945, in Fort Wayne the only child of Leon E. â€śBudâ€ť and â€śMary I. (Lenox) Hamman. A native of South Whitley, she graduated from South Whitley High School. She continued her education at Indiana Institute of Technology.
On Nov. 29, 1985, she was united in marriage to Harry M. Kyler. They made their home in rural South Whitley until moving to their home on North Webster Lake 14 years ago.
She was employed at Dwyer Instruments, Huntington Schools, Fox Products and lastly Strombeck Septic.
A member of North Webster American Legion Post #253 Auxiliary, she served as sergeant-at-arms and corresponding secretary. She volunteered at North Webster Community Public Library.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Harry; two sons, Kevin (Deb) Shoemaker of South Whitley and Kip (Tricia) Shoemaker of North Manchester; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Alfred H. Heuer.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Webster United Methodist Church, 7822 E. Epworth Forest Dr. with visitation after 10 a.m. The burial will take place at a later date at South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will also be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
