Joy M. Worrick, 93, of Columbia City, died at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City, where she had been a resident since April 3.
She was born April 19, 1920, in Whitley County, a daughter of the late Everett “Bud” and Dessie (Traster) Taylor.
Her formative years were spent in Union Township. She graduated from Union Township High School.
On April 9, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lester B. Worrick. They made their home in Union Township. In 1997, the couple moved to Westgate, Columbia City, and 2005 to their present home.
She began her work career with Raber Elevator and later moved to Columbia Grain. She completed her career with Schrader Auction Company with 15 years of service.
She attended First Church of God, Columbia City.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 70 years, Lester; her three children, Jacqueline A. Worrick of Columbia City, Danny (Linda) Worrick of Columbia City and Jill (Rick) Greene of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, Christopher Worrick, Annette Minthorn, Nathaniel Worrick, Phillip Worrick, Renae Jordon and Regina Wilson and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Valiere Taylor.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
