JoAnn Paulus, 85

JoAnn M. Paulus, 85, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.
Born March 27, 1928, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Oren E. and Fern (Kyler) Sroufe.
She lived in Whitley County her entire life. She graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1947.
On Oct. 2, 1988, she married Leon Paulus at Merriam Christian Chapel. She worked for Whitley Products for more than 20 years and Essex for 15 years.
She was a member of Columbia City Community Bible Church, Eagles Lodge #1906, and Moose Lodge, both of Columbia City, American Legion #258 at Pierceton and VFW in Columbia City.
Surviving relatives include her son, Jimmy (Lois) Brandenburg of Columbia City; daughters, Glenda Ervin of Claypool and Karen Wildey of Greenwood; stepdaughter, Cheryl Merrit of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; first husband, Russell Brandenburg; brothers, Robert and Bill Sroufe; and sister, Betty Webster.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with an Eagles Service at 6:30 p.m. The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. John Cummings officiating. The burial will follow at Adams Cemetery.
