COLUMBIA CITY — The Salvation Army’s red kettles are out and bell ringers are making noise to bring in funds for the nonprofit organization.
The red kettle national campaign is the organization’s largest fundraiser.
Pat Mossburg is the Salvation Army of Whitley County’s ministries coordinator. “These donations help provide the monies for the year-round local programs and services for those in need in our community and continue to be one of our most important and well-known fundraising drives,”Mossburg said.
The money deposited in red kettles located in Whitley County remains in Whitley County.
“The needs in Whitley County have grown with each passing year. People that are working are still struggling to just meet all the bills. We have lost the majority of all our funding over the last few months. By Gods Grace and a community wanting to help we can continue this mission. Some of our many programs are new shoes for kids returning to school, backpack and school supply giveaway, hygiene pantry, rental assistance, cooking classes for those who use pantry foods, Angel Clippers Coupon Class, Brewing Faith Bible Study, Holiday food for Christmas. Can you spare an hour, a day? It is never too early to plan to ring. We count upon the generosity of those who donate as well as the wonderful volunteers who help ring the bells.
