ISMS student awarded for photo

January 28, 2014

The photo above was taken by Indian Springs Middle School student, Alissa Jagger. Jagger took home honorable mention for the photo, along with six other awards. See Pages A5 and A6 for more award-winning photos.

COLUMBIA CITY — This past summer, Alissa Jagger traveled to Washington D.C. with her family.

While the photo (pictured right) is touching, the story behind the photo made emotions run high for Jagger’s art teacher, Mary Hilger.

“I had chills when she told me the story,” Hilger said.

The following story was written by Jagger’s mother, Amy, a columnist for The Post & Mail.

This past summer, the Jagger family went to Washington D.C.

They went to the Vietnam War Memorial Wall. They were there to look up a particular individual.
