ISMS girls open with win

MANCHESTER — Indian Springs’ girls seventh- and eighth-grade Stars opened up their seasons Monday night with wins at Manchester. Both teams won by a score of 19-9.

The seventh-grade Stars used a strong defense that held Manchester to just four points in the first half. ISMS led 14-4 at the break.

Hannah Behm was the game’s high scorer, leading the Stars in scoring with nine points and eight rebounds. Shayla Harris added five points and eight steals.

Also scoring in the game was Shelby Mosier and Hannah Zurbrick with two points apiece and Emilee Smith with one point.

In the eighth-grade game, Mason Van Houten tallied seven points to lead ISMS in scoring. Madison Hansen added five points, and Bella Krieg put in four for the Lady Stars.

Both Lady Stars’ teams travel to Warsaw to take on Edgewood in a conference match-up Thursday. Game time is 4:45 p.m. for the seventh-grade team, with 8th grade to follow.
