COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City High School students were given a brief, but unique opportunity to experience life with disabilities Thursday.
As part of Disabilities Awareness Month, several stations were set up around the high school gymnasium for students to visit.
At each stop, a challenge was given to teens to maneuver through an obstacle with a twist that focused on a certain disability.
Whether it was to walk from one point to another blindfolded with the help of a partner’s coaching, or to swerve in and out of cone markers in a wheelchair, students could experience first hand some of the day -to-day challenges someone with a disability has to face.
