HUMAN SPIRIT: Triumphant tale of love at CCHS musical

Hannah Schaefer, a Columbia City High School senior, will portray the character Aida in the school's spring musical Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Columbia City High School will present “Aida” Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

The show’s plot takes place on the banks of the Nile, and unfolds the triumphant tale of love that transcends warring nations and brings a country together.

This pop-rock musical plays out to a stirring Tony and Grammy Award-winning pop score by Elton John and Tim Rice.

An enslaved Nubian princess, Aida, played by CCHS senior Hannah Schaefer, finds her heart entangled with Radames, portrayed by CCHS senior Matthew Scott Swain, an Egyptian soldier who is betrothed to the Pharaoh’s daughter, Amneris, played by Athena Arnold.

Tickets are $8 and can be purchased from any cast member, by calling Shane Barkley, the director, at 633-1102 or at the door before each night’s performances.
