Howard Hinton, 83

Howard LeRoy Hinton, 83, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013 at Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington. He was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Fairmount, the son of the late Oral and Estia Marie (Zentemyer) Hinton.
Howard attended Anderson High School and was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Marines. He later earned a degree in engineering during his 40 year career with General Motors as a Journeyman/Millwright.
On Aug. 21, 1976, Howard married Carol (Stump) Frank in Huntington. His membership affiliations include the Masons, Blue Lodge, 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. Howard enjoyed woodworking with his vast assortment of tools he had collected.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 36 years, Carol of Roanoke; children Paul(Sue) Hinton of Centerpoint, Howard R. Hinton of Brazil, ReAnn (Tom) Donaghy of Fort Wayne, Tammy (Mark) Boohaw of Brazil, Kim (Perry) Myers of Huntington, Tim (Toni) Frank of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oral and Estia Hinton and a sister, Madelaine Hinton.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. with calling one hour prior to service at the funeral home. The burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, Wilmot.
