HOMETOWN SEARS: New location, same products

January 31, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Sears Hometown store is moving this week.

The retail outlet is relocating from its previous location on Connexion Way to Plaza Drive, in the former Fashion Bug space in Town & Country Shopping Center.

Though the move is taking place this week, Sears will not be closed, as customers are able to visit the new store anytime.

The transition comes after the previous owner, Dave Meineke, left the business, Winter said. Winter said Sears is currently looking for an owner, and is in the beginning stages of finding one.

Though Winter said the new store is probably the same size, he thinks it’s a better location.

“We’re going to get a lot more traffic here than at the other location,” Winter said.

The new location will offer the same products, with the addition of mattresses.

The store offers a variety of products, from kitchen appliances to lawn equipment and tools. Winter said the store can also order anything that is on the Sears website, and have it shipped to the customer’s home.
