Jeremy Dexter

CHURUBUSCO — Smith-Green Community Schools Board of School Trustees named a new athletic director, beginning in the 2013-14 school year.

Jeremy Dexter, currently at Eastern High School in Greentown, will take the reins as athletic and extracurricular director for Churubusco Junior-Senior High School effective Aug. 1.

The decision was made official by the school board at a special meeting Monday night.

The position became available after current Athletic and Extracurricular Director Andrew Wagner submitted his resignation in March two years after he assumed the role. Wagner’s last day was April 30.

Dexter said his first step will be getting in touch with CJSHS coaches.

“I want to get in and meet them. I’ve got their contact information. I’m going to reach out to them now and begin to build those relationships,” he said. “I’ve got a background in coaching, so I really want to get to know them and make them aware that I’m here for them.”

Dexter said one way he hopes to start making connections with CJSHS is by attending the golf outing that will be put on by the school’s athletic department June 14.
