GOV'T BUILDING PARTIALLY CLOSED: Crews still work to repair basement after flooding

March 18, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County’s file management office, located in the basement of the County Government Center, is closed until further notice.
Recent flooding, along with mold growth, has caused the need for the office’s closure.

Those in need of assistance should call the Clerk’s office at 248-3102.
Clean-up efforts are currently underway.

County leaders were not certain when the damage, which could cost as much as $2,500, will be cleaned up, but optimistically hoped for later this week.

Piling snow and heavy rains caused a flood in the basement of the Whitley County Government Center Feb. 21, at an expense of more than $23,000.
Wet carpet was found in a basement meeting room, but the source of water was unable to be located at the time.
