Geneva E. Myers, 90, loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away quietly at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 8:25 p.m.
She was born Sept. 25, 1920 in Cleveland Township to the late Gerald R. and Jennie (Williamson) Lancaster. She spent her formative years in South Whitley and graduated from South Whitley High School.
On Dec. 5, 1949 she was united in marriage to Willard â€śBlackieâ€ť Myers. They ran the Mobil service station in South Whitley. Mr. Myers died Feb. 26, 1977.
She was employed by the former Gripco for 24 years as an office worker and then Stumps Printing/Shindigz in the accounting department until January of this year.
A cherished friend to many, she loved her family. Her many talents included raising flowers, quilting and crocheting afghans. She was a member of United Methodist Church of South Whitley, where she had served on several boards and a past board member of the South Whitley Library
She is survived by a daughter, Judith (Gail) Egolf of Columbia City; a granddaughter, Amanda (Steve) Wells, Westchester, Ohio; a grandson, Andrew (Shanon) Roberts, Columbia City; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Anna, Skye and Kendra; four brothers, Robert (Norma) Lancaster, Larry â€śButchâ€ť (Karen) Lancaster, Richard Lancaster, and Randall (Deanna) Lancaster; and two sisters, Joan Stansbery and Kay (Larry) Lepley.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Donnel, Garold â€śJake,â€ť Merritt â€śCurlyâ€ť and Dale Lancaster and sisters, Rosetomasene Lancaster, Nancy Lancaster, Karen Corson and a son-in-law, Kenton Roberts.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church of South Whitley with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in the South Whitley cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Parkview Whitley Home Health and Hospice or United Methodist Church of South Whitley.
