Gayle E. Schinbeckler, 92, of Columbia City, passed away at 10:44 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at her home.
Born Nov. 12, 1920, in Hope, Kan., she was the daughter of Gustave H. and Sarah E. (Longbine) Brumbaugh.
At age 14, while in the seventh grade, she and her family moved from Kansas to Whitley County.
She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1938.
On Dec. 24, 1939, she married Marshall C. Schinbeckler at First Church of God, Columbia City.
She worked for 10 years at First Church of God Nursery School and 10 years at Columbia Products Weatherhead and Spiegel Catalog Store, Columbia City. She was a member of First Church of God, Columbia City.
Surviving relatives include her nephew and nieces, James (Gloria) Baals and Linda Karn of Fort Wayne and Sydney (Steven) Campbell of Columbia City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marshall C. Schinbeckler, children, Michael and Marsha C. Schinbeckler and sisters, Phyllis Baals and Sally Fretz.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Curtiss Johnson officiating.
The burial at South Park (Annex) Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Schinbecklerâ€™s memory to Whitley County Humane Society, Columbia City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
