FUNDRAISING: United Way inches closer to its goal

January 25, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — “We’re so close.” That is how United Way Executive Director Cindy Baker sums up the Live United 2012 fundraiser campaign.

With $170,000 of the $190,000 goal accounted for, United Way is waiting on the last few dollars to roll in.

United Way of Whitley County is a nonprofit organization that helps to fund other nonprofit groups in the area. In 2011, United Way specifically helped to fund B.A.B.E. of Whitley County, Churubusco Community Childcare Center, Whitley County Council on Aging, the American Red Cross and others.

Thirty-six employee campaigns shaped the 2011 campaign with 968 individuals giving and 43 companies donating.

There is still time to give to the Live United campaign. For those who did not contribute in 2012, the donations collected now will be counted as new dollars and matched dollar-for-dollar by a grant made possible through the Indiana Association of United Way.
