January 28, 2014

The photo above was taken by Indian Springs Middle School student, Alissa Jagger. Jagger took home honorable mention for the photo, along with six other awards. Contributed photo.

COLUMBIA CITY — This past summer, Alissa Jagger traveled to Washington D.C. with her family.

While the photo is touching, the story behind the photo made emotions run high for Jagger’s art teacher, Mary Hilger.

“I had chills when she told me the story,” Hilger said.
