FOOTBALL PREVIEW: Eagles look to rebound all the way to title

October 17, 2013

CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s conference winning streak, dating back to 2010, was snapped last week by Fairfield.

Despite that result, the 7-1 Eagles still have much incentive in their final game against Lakeland, which is 6-2.

‘Busco could rebound from defeat all the way into a tie for the Northeast Corner Conference championship.

Fairfield’s conference slate is over, and the Falcons ended at 7-1 in the NECC. Churubusco, at 6-1, could get a tie for the championship with a win Friday.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Lakers have the same prize ahead of them. Lakeland was defeated two weeks ago by Fairfield, and lost last week in non-conference action to Fort Wayne Concordia.

A win by the Lakers over Churubusco would give them a share of the NECC crown as well.

The Lakers, though, have not had much success in recent years against ’Busco.
