FOG ALERT: Thick fog descends on Whitley County; driving beastly but hoar frost beautiful

February 5, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY – Morning commutes were being compromised Tuesday by a thick blanket of fog that descended on Whitley county, limiting visibility to one-tenth of a mile, and in many cases, just a few hundred yards.

The heavy fog was causing dangerous driving conditions due to limited visibility.

Despite the beastly driving, beauty was abounding as morning lightened the day. With mid-teen temperatures, the heavy fog was creating an abundance of hoar frost on trees, shrubs and other winter vegetation, providing dazzling, picturesque winter scenery.
